1. Cable & Conduit Management on Conveyors
Stainless steel clamp heads are used to secure sensor cables, motor leads, and pneumatic tubing to conveyor frames. They prevent cable sagging, chafing, or snagging on moving parts. In washdown areas, SUS316 clamp heads resist corrosion from daily cleaning chemicals. The split-body design allows retrofitting onto existing cable bundles without disconnecting ends.
2. Hose & Tube Termination in Fluid Handling
For water, air, or coolant lines feeding conveyor washdown nozzles, air knives, or cooling tunnels, stainless steel clamp heads provide leak-proof hose or tube termination. The compression ferrule creates a seal that withstands pressure spikes and temperature changes. Quick-release versions allow tool-free disconnection for maintenance.
3. Modular Frame & Guard Mounting
In stainless steel conveyor frames or machine guarding systems, clamp heads securely attach round handrails, crossbars, or sensor brackets to vertical posts. Stainless steel clamp heads are precision fastening components used to secure guardrails, side rails, and sensor brackets to conveyor framework. Each unit consists of a two-piece split body, a clamping screw, and a base mounting flange. The split-body design allows installation onto existing tubing or profiles without disassembly of the mounted component.
Two material grades are available. SUS304 stainless steel contains a minimum of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, providing corrosion resistance for indoor industrial and general washdown environments. SUS316 stainless steel adds 2% to 3% molybdenum, which improves resistance to chloride-containing solutions such as saltwater, chlorinated cleaners, and food processing sanitizers. All clamp bodies are investment cast and then machined to dimensional tolerances of ±0.1 mm on clamping bores.
The clamping mechanism uses a stainless steel socket head cap screw that compresses the split body around the inserted tube or shaft. When tightened to the specified torque of 8 Nm to 12 Nm (depending on tube diameter), the clamp maintains positional hold under conveyor vibration loads. The base flange features slotted mounting holes for angular adjustment during installation.
The clamp head series covers multiple tube diameter sizes and base mounting patterns to match different conveyor guardrail systems. Standard clamping diameters include 12 mm, 16 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, and 30 mm round tubing. Base mounting options include single-hole pivot bases, two-hole fixed bases, and T-slot compatible bases for aluminum extrusion frames. All dimensions are produced to ISO 2768 medium tolerance class.
Clamp heads install using standard hex key or socket wrench tools. For round guardrail tubing, the clamp can be rotated to any angle before tightening, allowing alignment with conveyor side rails of varying heights. The split-body design also permits retrofitting onto pre-installed cable bundles or tubing runs without disconnecting terminated ends.
For aluminum profile conveyor frames, the clamp base mounts directly into standard T-slots using drop-in T-nuts. For stainless steel welded frames, the base bolts through pre-drilled holes with matching stainless steel nuts and washers. To prevent galvanic corrosion when mounting to aluminum, optional insulating washers are available.
In food and beverage production facilities, SUS316 clamp heads secure side guides and hold-down rails on bottle filling lines, canning systems, and packaging conveyors. The smooth cast surface resists bacterial buildup and withstands daily high-pressure washdown cycles with alkaline or chlorine-based cleaners.
Pharmaceutical packaging lines and medical device assembly conveyors use stainless steel clamp heads for guardrail mounting where cleanroom-compatible materials are required. The non-porous stainless steel surface supports wipe-down sanitization protocols and does not shed particulate matter.
Outdoor conveyor systems, port side material handling lines, and coastal warehouse installations use SUS316 clamp heads to resist salt spray and atmospheric corrosion. The all-stainless construction avoids the rust staining that occurs with carbon steel or zinc-plated components in coastal environments.
SUS304 provides general corrosion resistance for indoor industrial use. SUS316 contains molybdenum and performs better in chloride-exposed environments such as salt spray, marine settings, and chlorinated washdowns. For most indoor conveyor applications, SUS304 is sufficient.
Standard clamp heads are designed for round tubing. Square or rectangular profile clamping requires a different jaw geometry. Custom square-bore versions are available on request for specific profile dimensions.
Stainless steel clamp heads maintain structural properties from -20°C up to 200°C. Continuous operation above 120°C may reduce the effective clamping force due to thermal expansion differences, and torque should be rechecked after temperature cycling.
Custom base hole patterns, polished surface finishes (Ra ≤ 0.8 μm for hygienic applications), and laser-etched part numbers can be specified for volume orders. Minimum order quantities apply to custom configurations.
