1. High Load Capacity & Impact Resistance
The 963 chain plate features a thicker cross-section and wider hinge design compared to smaller pitch belts, supporting heavier product loads and withstanding impact from dropped cases or palletized goods. It is ideal for applications where metal containers, heavy automotive parts, or bulk bags are conveyed without belt sagging or premature hinge wear.
2. Open-Hinge Design for Drainage & Cleanability
The generous open area between hinge rods allows liquids, fine debris, and wash water to fall through freely, preventing product carryover and bacterial growth. This design is critical for food processing lines requiring frequent washdowns (e.g., meat, poultry, seafood). The belt can be easily cleaned with hot water, steam, or mild detergents, supporting strict hygiene standards.
3. Modular & Tool-Free Repair
Individual 963 chain plate modules are linked by stainless steel or plastic hinge rods, enabling quick replacement of damaged sections without dismantling the entire conveyor. The belt can be cut to custom widths using standard tools, and edge modules are available for finished edges. This modularity reduces downtime, spare parts inventory, and maintenance costs.
Product Uses
1. Beverage Can & PET Bottle Conveying
The 963 chain plate is widely used in high-speed filling, rinsing, and packaging lines for aluminum cans, glass bottles, and PET containers. Its wide, flat surface provides stable transport, preventing tipping at transfer points. The open hinge drains spilled beverages away, reducing slip hazards. The belt handles single-file and mass flow configurations at speeds up to 50 m/min.
2. Food Processing – Meat, Poultry & Seafood
In raw or cooked protein processing lines, the 963 chain plate transports whole birds, fillets, trays, or bulk portions through washing, chilling, freezing, and packaging stations. The open hinge allows blood, ice melt, and wash water to drain, keeping the belt clean. FDA-compliant acetal or PP grades are available for direct food contact, and the belt withstands frequent high-pressure washdowns.
3. Automotive & Heavy Component Assembly
The 963 chain plate moves engine blocks, transmission housings, wheel rims, and stamped metal parts between machining, painting, and assembly stations. Its high load capacity supports heavy pallets or fixtures, while the low-friction surface reduces drive power consumption. The belt resists oils, coolants, and shop-floor debris. Optional anti-skid inserts prevent part shifting during incline or decline sections.

The 963 series steel-based chain plate is a composite conveyor belt consisting of POM (polyoxymethylene) thermoplastic top plates mounted onto a 12A-1 roller chain base. Each plate is injection-molded as a single flat-top piece with integral hinge knuckles on both ends. Stainless steel or carbon steel hinge pins pass through the knuckles to join consecutive plates, while the underlying roller chain provides the driving engagement with sprockets.
The flat top surface creates a continuous, level conveying plane suitable for stable transport of packaged goods, containers, and individual components. The open-hinge design creates gaps between plates, allowing liquids and fine debris to fall through rather than accumulating on the belt surface. This drainage characteristic supports washdown procedures and reduces product carryover between production zones.
POM material provides low surface friction, good wear resistance, and dimensional stability across normal operating temperatures. The steel-based chain underneath handles tensile loads, so the belt combines the chemical resistance and smooth surface of plastic with the strength and positive drive of metal chain.

Working load values are derived from tensile break strength with a 5:1 safety factor applied at 21°C ambient temperature. Elevated operating temperatures reduce allowable working load.
The recommended operating speed range for straight horizontal runs is 5 m/min to 50 m/min under evenly distributed load conditions. For curved sections or incline/decline segments, reduced speeds are advised. The POM top plates maintain mechanical properties within a continuous temperature range of -40°C to +80°C, with short-term exposure up to +100°C.
Chemical compatibility includes resistance to most neutral detergents, dilute acids, and alkaline solutions used in routine cleaning. Strong oxidizing agents and certain organic solvents may cause surface degradation or stress cracking and should be evaluated before exposure.
The belt engages with standard 12A-1 sprockets. Minimum recommended sprocket tooth count is 12 teeth for smooth operation; 16-tooth and 19-tooth sprockets are common for higher-speed applications.
Yes. Damaged plates can be removed by driving out the corresponding hinge pin and inserting a replacement plate and new pin. This modular repair eliminates the need to remove the entire belt from the conveyor, reducing maintenance downtime.
The minimum horizontal back bend radius is 153 mm as listed in specifications. For actual conveyor curve design, wider belts require larger curve radii to maintain plate engagement. Consult factory engineering for curve layouts with belt widths above 152.4 mm.
Standard plates are supplied in natural POM color. Custom colors and textured top surfaces (such as anti-slip or low-friction coatings) are available for volume production orders. Color options should be verified for food-contact compliance where applicable.
